Measurement and evaluation

Vehicle arrival rate

Taux d’arrivée des véhicules

Vehicle arrival rate is the number of vehicles entering a defined area or requesting service per unit of time. Arrival rate helps describe demand pressure, but interpretation requires the observation boundary, time interval, vehicle eligibility, and whether repeat attempts or vehicles unable to stop are counted.

Loading and passenger access

Vehicle staging area

Zone d’attente des véhicules

Vehicle staging area is a location where vehicles wait before approaching a service point such as a passenger loading zone or delivery destination. Staging separates waiting from active transfer, but requires dispatch coordination and legal space so that queues do not simply move to neighboring curb areas.

Accessibility

Vulnerable road user

Usager vulnérable de la route

Vulnerable road user is a road user whose limited physical protection increases the consequences of a collision. The category commonly includes pedestrians and cyclists, although legal definitions vary; curb design should examine exposure, visibility, speed, and crossing conflicts rather than relying only on a categorical label.
