Curbside electrification
DC fast charging
Recharge rapide en courant continu
DC fast charging is electric-vehicle charging that supplies direct current to the vehicle using conversion equipment outside the vehicle. It can support shorter energy stops than lower-power arrangements under suitable conditions, while actual charging performance depends on vehicle limits, battery state, temperature, equipment capability, and available electrical supply.
Understanding the term
Higher power can require substantial site and grid work. At the curb, equipment size, cooling, noise, and cable management may constrain location as much as electrical capacity.
Planning should connect electrical service requirements with the use of public space. Verify equipment compatibility, utility capacity, accessible operation, pedestrian clearance, payment information, and maintenance responsibilities before selecting a final layout. Distinguish equipment status from legal parking availability and from successful charging experienced by users. Review performance under realistic simultaneous demand and vehicle positions, and explain any limitations so that published capacity is not mistaken for a guaranteed service at every moment.
