Curb management
Curb supply
Offre du curb
Curb supply is the street-edge capacity legally and physically available for specified uses during a stated period. Supply depends on dimensions, restrictions, accessibility, and temporary conditions, meaning a length of curb or a count of marked spaces does not by itself describe usable capacity.
Understanding the term
Supply inventories should exclude space unavailable because of works, visibility protection, or an active exclusive use. Reporting nominal capacity without these conditions can understate apparent pressure and mislead comparisons between otherwise similar streets.
Planning begins with a location-specific statement of the problem and the public function that needs protection. Field observations should be compared with the applicable legal record, including exceptions and temporary changes. Document the users affected, the period examined, and the alternatives available nearby. An evaluation should test access, safety, and operational reliability together, because moving an activity elsewhere can transfer a conflict rather than resolve it.
