Microhub
Microplateforme logistique
Microhub is a small logistics location where goods are transferred, sorted, or staged close to delivery destinations. It can support cargo bikes, walking delivery, or smaller vehicles, while its success depends on lawful space, replenishment access, operating responsibility, and coordination with the surrounding public realm.
Understanding the term
A microhub transfers some curb demand rather than eliminating it. Account for inbound replenishment, container storage, worker facilities, and the final delivery paths it generates.
Assess the complete goods movement, including replenishment, stopping, handling, receiving, and any additional collection or return trip. Engage operators and recipients with different shipment patterns rather than relying on one fleet’s experience. Record the street-space, building, workforce, and timing constraints that shape feasibility. Compare a proposed arrangement with an explicit baseline and examine neighboring streets, since a local improvement can shift loading pressure or handling effort elsewhere in the delivery chain.
