Radar detection

Détection radar

Radar detection is a sensing method using radio-wave reflections to estimate properties such as movement, distance, or presence. Different radar designs support different functions, so a curb deployment must establish whether it can detect stationary vehicles and distinguish adjacent movements rather than assume all radar devices measure occupancy equally.

Understanding the term

Moving-target detection and presence detection are not interchangeable capabilities. Specify the required use and validate the installed configuration against representative curbside conditions.

Validate the measurement against an independent reference under representative conditions. Record uncertainty, coverage, missing intervals, and the difference between a raw observation and an inferred activity. Technical outputs should be used only for purposes they can support reliably. Assign responsibility for calibration, corrections, access, and retention, and assess privacy across the complete data flow. An operational dashboard can conceal measurement errors if it displays precise values without their method or limitations.
