Loading and passenger access
Commercial loading
Chargement commercial
Commercial loading is the transfer of goods or equipment associated with business activity between a vehicle and a destination. Curb rules may define commercial eligibility by activity, vehicle class, permit, or another criterion, so a branded vehicle alone does not establish permission to occupy a loading zone.
Understanding the term
A delivery worker may need time beyond the visible handover to reach a stockroom or obtain a signature. Surveys should capture these operational components without presuming continuous activity at the vehicle.
Operational review should connect the stopping place to the activity at the destination. Observe arrivals, transfer duration, waiting, and conflicts with walking, cycling, and transit. Check whether the posted rules match the intended use and whether legitimate users can actually obtain space. Where a change displaces activity, include nearby streets in the evaluation. Clear responsibilities for information, maintenance, and enforcement are as important as the marked dimensions of the area.
